Robert Edwards was raised in the woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. When he was young, hunting and fishing were a natural hobby, and he spent as much time as he could out in the woods. With so many species of game and fish to pursue, these hobbies soon grew into a full-blown addiction to the outdoors.
Still a faithful resident of the “U.P.”, summer finds Rob out on the Great Lakes fishing for Salmon and Lake Trout or searching the inland lakes for walleye and pan fish. Fall is a busy time of year since he is an avid bow hunter. Bear hunting and whitetail are a favorite for him, but he also takes part in rifle and muzzle loader seasons. Partridge hunting is another good reason to get out in the crisp fall air, and Rob always manages to bag a few birds. When winter comes there’s no break in the game. He hits the ice with auger and poles in hand ready for a perfect day on the ice.
Rob never misses an opportunity to spend a day in the wood or on the water, but it doesn’t cut into his family time because you’ll often find his boys in tow. Sharing his interest in hunting and fishing with his family is important, and it is a great way to pass on the love of the sport. With many hours logged enjoying the outdoors, some of which are in harsh conditions, Rob has learned that being prepared with quality gear makes all the difference. He’s put his Hycreek gear through the paces, and you can feel confident that if Robert is using it – it’s good stuff. Read Rob’s reports from the outdoors.
Bob Perala – As early as Bob can remember he was roaming the woods of Michigan’s Northern Peninsula along side his father. Hunting has and always will be a tradition in the Perala family. For decades the family hunted out of an old army tent in the middle of the woods before moving on to a rustic cabin and some nice acreage. It is there that the tradition continues with Bob’s children and grandchildren.
Rifles, muzzle loaders, shot guns, long bows – he has hunted with them all over the years, and although each on has it’s own techniques, Bob will be the first to tell you that it’s the challenge of the outdoor experience that he enjoys the most. Of course, deer hunting is a favorite for him and he looks forward to it all year, and when fall comes that rustic cabin in the wood becomes his home. The days and weeks away from the hustle and bustle of the daily grind, allow him to totally immerse himself in the hunt. For a guy who spends days and hours in the woods, Bob requires the best. Each and every outdoor adventure is tackled with precise preparation and organization to ensure the highest possible outcome of success. There are no shortcuts here. Quality equipment and clothing is a necessity for Bob, especially in the northern climates where he hunts. Because he will only use quality products, you can rest assured that if something is “Bob Approved” – it is the best! Keep up with Bob throughout the hunting season.
